We’re getting closer to the next edition of the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops and more details seem to have been published.

First and foremost, the game has been confirmed to be set in 1968, with the Black Ops’ main purpose being to kill the spread of Communism. One of the levels demoed by USA Today describes a mission simply called “WMD”, which puts the player in an SR-71 Blackbird in the sky, commanding a small squad on the ground through a surveillance camera and directing the team exactly where to go. After this short section, you then switch to a more up-close-and-personal viewpoint, actually becoming one of the soldiers on the battlefield, given the objective to infiltrate a Russian nuclear facility.

Interestingly, the addition of a new weapon – a scoped crossbow, no less – was revealed; not only this, but also shown was the adoption of alternate ammunition types, with explosive arrows being utilized during the playthrough. Perhaps the crossbow will filter out the skilled players from the synonymous campers, ever-present within the FPS universe? Or maybe its explosive rounds will turn what could be a game-maker into an old-school noob-tube? Only time will tell…

Also confirmed is that Call of Duty 7 (can we still call it that?) is a 2-4 player co-operative mode, akin to the one in World at War. However, it wasn’t specified if there would be a co-op mode in the style of Spec Ops in Modern Warfare 2, so keep your eyes peeled for news on that soon. To add to the hype, Treyarch’s studio head, Mark Lamia has said that the game will span “a longer time period during this era”, suggesting that it won’t only be based solely in 1968 and instead would focus on “at least two main characters” who get embroiled in conflicts spanning the globe.

So what are expecting from this game? Would you buy it? Feel free to show us your thoughts on this news.

After “leaving” the World of War 2 games, Electronic Arts is now entering the modern day war. EA has dated their franchise reboot of the Medal of Honor series with a October 12 release date in North America and October 15 date for Europe.

The game is being developed by Electronic Arts Los Angeles (EALA) in cooperation with U.S. Special Forces Tier One Operators to bring the most realistic wartime experience possible to gamers.

On the other hand, the multiplayer part is being held by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) (those who brought you Battlefield: Bad Company 2).

Hey everyone. I’m Tom O’Connor, and I’m working on Move Party (working title) for the upcoming PlayStation Move.

We debuted the game at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco back in March, and the response was awesome. Gamers are loving the augmented reality feature of the game. Seeing the PlayStation Move motion controller transform before your eyes into objects on-screen, actually in your hand, is a pretty magical experience. Not to mention, the game is a lot of fun and we’ve been working hard on getting all the extra content into an “Alpha” build — and we are there! We are playing the games again and again, and then some more … and then again, tweaking and balancing and making sure that we cram as much fun into each of the games as we can before launching in the fall.

We’ve been showing the game behind closed doors and conducting lots of user testing. We’ve been really impressed at how quickly people of all ages are captivated by the game as soon as they pick up the PlayStation Move motion controller. The experience is extremely intuitive. There are no special gestures to learn like in some motion control games, you simply interact with the objects as you would in real life. It’s super easy and fun to just pick up the controller and start playing. Move Party is really only possible due to the amazing accuracy, freedom and precision that the PlayStation Move delivers. Cut hair, bash moles, bounce a ball, paint a picture, fly a helicopter, zap some robots and much more.

That’s all from me for now, but watch this space for more updates and lookout for us at E3. In the meantime, check out our new behind-the-scenes video featuring Jonathan Amor, Steve Goss and Tom Heaton, the Move Party developers over at Supermassive Games for an insightful look into how the PlayStation Move allows us to bring games like Move Party into your home.

I found the video pretty cool, especially the hair cutting part.

It looks like that the ones that are developing games for “Move” are small-medium companies, I haven’t heard of any big companies developing games with support for “Move”, have you?

According to Examiner, a lawsuit has been filed against Sony two days ago. Gamers are looking to sue Sony over the removal of the Linux and ‘OS’ feature.

To quote:

It was reported earlier in the month that gamers were looking to sue Sony for the removal of the PS3 function to add your own ‘OS’ to your PS3. This removal caused an uproar in the gaming community and gamers sought to use the power of the legal system to get even with Sony. That day has finally come. As of yesterday, a lawsuit was filed against Sony on this very issue and gamers are looking to sue Sony over the removal of the Linux and ‘OS’ feature. The suit is bringing brought by Anthony Ventura of California,

Court files reveal that Sony will appear in court on August 25th and September 1st, 2010 to face the charges brought against them. In a seventeen page long case file, everything is carefully documented about the feature being touted as a key component of the PS3 and why it was unlawful to remove the feature from current PS3 units. In the case filing, the plaintiffs claims the removal of the ‘OS’ feature causes them to lose money and that Sony changed the system settings and more.

With the PS3 Firmware 3.30 Sony introduced new terms of service and user agreement.
The most interesting change can be found below:

11. MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES

From time to time, it may become necessary for SCEA to provide certain content to you to ensure that Sony Online Services and content offered through Sony Online Services, your PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system or other SCEA-authorized hardware is functioning properly in accordance with SCEA guidelines.

Some content may be provided automatically without notice when you sign in. Such content may include automatic updates or upgrades which may change your current operating system, cause a loss of data or content or cause a loss of functionalities or utilities.

Such upgrades or updates may be provided for system software for your PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, or other SCEA-authorized hardware. Access or use to any system software is subject to terms and conditions of a separate end user license agreement found at http://www.us.playstation.com/termsofuse.

You authorize SCEA to provide such content and agree that SCEA shall not be liable for any damages, loss of data or loss of functionalities arising from provision of such content or maintenance services. It is recommended that you regularly back up any archivable data located on the hard disk.

Now tell me, isn’t that interesting?

“Hey my PSP just died after I turned it on, I’ll take it to Sony.”
“Sorry but we’re not liable for any damages caused by our maintenance services.”

Seriously…
